A simple way to generate business ideas

New substack post:

You could try waiting to see if you dream them up out of thin air, after meditating and taking your daily vitamins or you could try to use a simple 4 step system to call upon anytime you need to.

All you need to do is write down the answers to 4 simple questions.

    ,
  • What kind of life do you want?
  • What problem do you want to solve?
  • What group of people do you want to solve it for?
  • What solution will you provide to solve their problem?

Are you being fully authentic & truly aligned with your business idea?

New substack post:

Have you ever felt as if you are banging your head against a brick wall?

Constantly try to reach your business idea goal, but you never seem to get there.

Struggling in treacle rather than moving forward smoothly through honey.

This is such a common problem.

You might think this a bit odd, but it is a very real issue for people to struggle against what they want and to actively limit their good and be doing it subconsciously and not realise.

Another way to describe what I mean is self-sabotage...

Who do you trust with your business idea?

I read this interesting article recently from the wonderful Elizabeth Gilbert, the author who brought us Eat, Pray, Love, around 2009 and it is still in the top 25 books on Amazon Best Seller Biographies, this link will take you there if you are interested. (amazon affiliate link) and, a very popular film starring Julia Roberts.

She talks about really looking at our friendships and she shares 4 questions you might want to ask whenever you want clarity about the validity of certain friendships.

Why has this got anything to do with you I hear you ask?

5 essential questions to ask before you start to plan your life

You must have sat down at some point in your life and said to yourself…

"What on earth am I going to do with the rest of my life?", especially if you are thinking of changing your work environment.

To help you find a starting point, I would like to share these 5 questions to ask yourself right at the beginning to help you frame your picture a bit more.

The people who are most successful in achieving their dreams are the ones who have a clear direction and a way to get there.

  • They might find potholes

  • encounter wrong directions

  • end up in blind alleys sometimes

but their map will always take them to their destination.

Before you plan to plan the rest of your life

Ok, so you have made the decision to make some decisions about your new working life.

You have decided it is time for a change and you want control over your own destiny and work life.

It would be wise to have some pre-planning about the pre-planning if you see what I mean.

Here are 3 things I suggest you give some thought to, and I am pretty sure you have read these tips a thousand times elsewhere, and I almost bored myself silly writing them but there is a reason for sharing them, yet again…

They are important to understand if you want to start any new project off right and they work!

It's all about finding your gift

It’s all about finding your gift

Here is one of my favourite “meaning of life” quotes

The meaning of life is to find your gift, the purpose of life is to give it away

Pablo Picasso

Finding your gift(s) is a very important part of your road to your perfect business idea and your career joy.

You can slot it in to the rules of happiness somewhere after mindset but before words of gratitude.

And of course you don’t just have one by the way, you come with a whole suite of them to be deployed at different times, but can you really step into your game when you bring them all together in your personality based, passion driven work.

You can poke about for passions or seek out your strengths but YOUR gift is the key to unlock the biggest door.

Examples of Strengths & Weaknesses

Examples of strengths and weaknesses?

In addition to the list I shared on a previous page about the Clifton Strengths, there are other ways to think about them...

If you find a strength then the opposite will be the weakness, it stands to reason really doesn't it?

And I much prefer to enhance the strength and disregard the weakness, just don't bother trying to fix it, you don't have enough time in your life.

This is why school and work can be very difficult because you are always pushed to improve your weaknesses and not encouraged to play up to your strengths a lot of the time.

It is like wearing a straightjacket, but creating your own employment frees you up from all of that...

Starting a baking business online

More and more people, in my experience, seem to want to start a baking business.

I am thrilled about that, I mean who doesn't love cake?

But it seems people seem to be stopped in their tracks because they think they have to open a bakery.

Well, I know there are easier ways to get involved and I have written a new page...

Starting a baking business online should be fun.

You love your craft, you adore creating sweet treats for friends, family, colleagues at work, and basically anyone who will say yes to you waving a muffin or a piece of chocolate cake in their face.

You dream about sugar and chocolate and sheet pans and oven temperatures.

You live for baking books and TV shows, competitions, and 99 different ways to ice a cupcake.

You don't want to go to the office, you want to don your perfect pinny, wave your rolling pin in the air like a fairy wand, and 'poof, as if by magic' create dollops of deliciousness and have the scent of vanilla all around you like a cloud of french perfume.

You are desperate to be starting a baking business online.

I know, I get it, how do you start amongst all of the other people doing the same thing, and with the commitments in your life, you can't seem to shoehorn your idea into your life?

Discovering your life purpose in 3 steps

Discovering your purpose in life can be one of the hardest questions that we as humans try to answer and wrongly, we think it comes with a job title.

It doesn’t. It is really important to understand that.

For example, take someone who is a nurse. Their purpose is not about “being a nurse” because that is the job title and the vehicle, they use to undertake their purpose.

Their purpose is to care for others

In this article I want to go through a step-by-step process, exploring your feelings and options, and by the end, you will have a simple 3-step process you can immediately put to use in your life, to help give it a meaningful direction!

Here are the steps to the process of discovering your purpose in life:

The Artists Way: The Julia Cameron Story

Anyone who is involved in personal development either as a teacher or student eventually gets to know about a giant of a book called The Artists Way by Julia Cameron

What I didn't know was the struggle involved to get there with it.

Julia Cameron had quite a life and it just goes to show even the best who walk among us have the same problems that we all experience.

A lesson to be learned here I feel, especially if you are having a bad day and are lacking in confidence...

Is this you, now at the end of the year ready to get going but a bit stuck about what to do next?

A kind of all in a "box" method so you buy the box and it covers everything?

Something you can use to build your new business brand without blowing your mind or your budget?

Let me show you then,

how I as a middle aged woman with no experience whatsoever, built my own online business from scratch using only, what I consider to be the best website builder for business on the planet.

And nothing else, no going online to try and find each piece of the online business puzzle.

And I am not joking or exaggerating or doing a sales number on you.

If I can do it, frankly, anyone can!

If you can read instructions and do drag & drop with the click of a mouse you can build your own website for your business from scratch.

And if you are wedded to WordPress, then this software offering has got you or your designer covered with a widget you can just drop into your site.

So all bases covered really.

And I am telling you now because this particular offer only happens once per year with the company, and it lasts until 9th of January 2023.

But I know you want to know more so I have written about it and you can visit their corporate website and learn more, I have put a few links on the page (* affiliate links to something I use and fully endorse *)

And I do recommend you put aside some time to read what is on offer because there is much to learn, you will end up down the rabbit hole and wonder where the time has gone...!

Are you stressed about what your passion is or should be?

Are you forever searching for your elusive "passion" that everyone talks about

I have a simple solution here.

Rather like meeting someone and asking if they are“the one”

If you have to ask then the answer is no.

If you have to ask if you are passionate about something, then you are not.

Your passions are something you do

  • when you finish work
  • at the weekend
  • every spare minute you get
  • you talk about them all the time
  • even if you never got paid
  • you think about it a lot
  • for your family and friends with love
  • for strangers if you could because you love doing it and so on

You passion should not be forced or have to be looked for.

If you don't feel it, then it is not right.

Make that statement at the top of your journal for 2023 and you will find you feel a little easier and less stressed.

I promise you.

New Year New Start. Are you here again?

We are hurtling towards the end of yet another year and you are back again thinking New Year New Start?

And this year you are ready to really go for it aren't you?

Great, I can help you move forward at least part of the way.

I am not going to promise I can change the whole of your life but I can help change the work part, if you are willing to jump in and actually take your New Year resolution forward for once.

I am not going to give you a great sales pitch either, like most people at this time of year.

If you want to take the course, and move forward in a way you never have before now, you have an opportunity to purchase your business idea formula for only $9.00

Based on the Life First, Work Second™ approach to business idea planning, the 7 Step Business Idea Formula course will be for you now that you are ready to make a move...

The course is for you especially if,

  • You have left uni and now concerned about finding employment or you have decided you actually want to chart your own course.
  • You’ve lost your job or are concerned you might be losing it next year and you don't want the stress of looking for a new full time one, so perhaps now is the time to develop a side business
  • It’s been suggested that it’s time for you to retire and you are absolutely not ready for that!
  • You LOVE working from home, and you don’t want to go back to the workplace but your employer is pressuring you to get back to the office or hinting it may affect your future.
  • Your current situation just isn’t what you want anymore, you want more out of life and work and your New Year resolution is to make a change.
  • You want to be your own boss and you believe it is now or never.
  • You’re rethinking your life values – the world is changing and you want to make a positive contribution instead of just "having a job"
  • You want to live life with some kind of purpose and chart your own course.
  • You know you were meant for something bigger, and it seems like the time is right.

And

  • You want to get to choose when, where and with whom you work?
  • You are so fed up hearing the words "side hustle” but you DO want a new adventure for yourself?
  • You want to learn how to think outside the standard job box and create your own income streams to support the life you want to be living

The path is easier if you have a map to follow and a little light to show you the way...

2 new bonus workbooks added to e-Course

I have added a couple more useful bonus workbooks to the eCourse.

1. Gratitude Journal & Planner

I talk about gratitude as an important part of the process in the course, having dissed it for years as nonsense and mumbo jumbo.

I now feel it is an important part of the day, because if you are not grateful for what you have, then you may not be grateful for what you have in the future.

You have an opportunity to print off planner sheets as you need them (there is a months worth for you) and do with them what you will.

2. Find Your Passion Journal

I have added this as I feel you need really address this and the document can be used as a standalone or in conjunction with your course.

I have included some questions that are not in the 111 Self Coaching Questions or in the course itself.

I hope you find them useful.

Don't forget the price of the course is going up in January, so grab it now before the end of year and get started on your new year resolution early... and be ahead of the game....

Are you in the right place?

My thought for you to think about today, especially if you are struggling a bit to get going...

A father said to his daughter "You just graduated, this is a car I bought a while ago... It is a few years old. But before I give it, take it to a car dealer in the city and sell it , see how much they offer.”

The girl came back to her father and said: "They offered 1000 euros because it looks very old"

The father said: Hold it and take it to the 2nd hand car dealer.

The girl returns to her father and says: "The pawn shop offered 100 euros because it is a very old car and lots of investments are needed to drive it again"

The father asked his daughter to join a passionate car club with experts and show them the car.

The girl drove the car to the passionate car club, turned and said to her father: “Some people in the club offered me 100,000 euros because it is a rare car that is in good condition, with great capabilities and super difficult to find.”

Then the father said, "I wanted to let you know that you are not worth anything if you are not in the right place.

"If you are not appreciated, do not be angry, that means you are in the wrong place. "Don't stay in a place where no one sees your value."

Should you turn your hobby into a business?

Monday mindset

Success is not obtained overnight. It comes in installments; you get a little bit today, a little bit tomorrow until the whole package is given out. The day you procrastinate, you lose that day’s success.

Sad news about the loss of Barbara Winter

I was very sad to hear about the loss of Barbara Winter recently.

If you don't know her, she was one of the pioneers of encouraging people to step outside of their comfort zone and think about working for themselves.

Someone like you!

Her book

Is helpful to anyone who wants to take a leap into self employment and also develop multiple profit centres.

She offers the tools you need for getting the most profit out of life both professionally and personally.

I am going to do a review of this book soon for a new section on the website.

I want to share my thoughts on what books I think could help you move forward with your business dream.

But till then I wanted to point you in the direction of Barbara's work and share what a wonderful asset she was to the world of the independent worker.

Her insights will be missed, especially during the times we are facing.

Thankyou Barbara, you certainly lived your purpose in life.

Quote: In need of a positive reminder today?

I was just listening to the radio today and this little mantra jumped out at me,

Every winner was a beginner and every master was a disaster

Absolutely no idea who coined it in the first place but I thought what a great Monday morning quote for someone.

Stick it somewhere you can see it and repeat often! x

Find your strengths

You need to find your strengths if you want to successfully design a career around who you are and what you are good at and want to work at.

If you want the perfect fit that is?

If you don’t find those strengths and work with them and end up fighting against them instead and your work life will be one big struggle.

In fact, you might be feeling that in your current employment situation, which is why nothing really feels like the right fit.

You might only be using a couple of strengths but not enough of your talents to make your work enjoyable enough?

Words of gratitude

The topic of gratitude, something I thought was absolute nonsense when I used to read about it, but it really plays a powerful part of the process towards whatever you deem as your success.

Just think about it, If you aren’t grateful for what you have already, you can’t appreciate what you will have in the future, can you?

If you dwell on what you don't have then you will get more of it.

You as a sassy, small business ideas genius are not going to be like that are you?
